Designing Flying Seeds (Infants - 4 years old)

We collected helicopter seeds from a tree on the patio and we looked at how they flew.  In the class, we talked about why flying away from the tree would be an advantage.  Then the students cut their own wing shapes from paper, stuck on a plasticine seed and tested them with a fan.  Some of the students realised that their seeds didn't fly and went back and redesigned seeds that flew better. The students analysed what they needed to do, created their seeds and then evaluated how well they worked.

Hands on Science Project is Available

I have finally finished uploading the experiments that I did in the Hands on Science project (see the pages tabs above).  We presented the project at the Jornadas de Innovación en CRIF "Las Acacias" in June 2016 and I have included photo summaries, the worksheets that I used plus some supplementary material.  The project was done with 4 sexto primary classes and I plan to rework the material, with additional material into a Hands on Science Primary 6 book link the ones I've made available for 4o and 5o.

The Value of School Gardens

School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom.
Connect students with the natural world and the source of their food, and teach them valuable gardening and agriculture concepts and skills that integrate with several subjects, such as  Sciences,  health, Physical Education
and, as well as several educational goals, including personal and social responsibility.
